Compare/Contrast between your country and the US on how free time is spent
How is free time spent in your country? What activities do you do? Where do you go? What is considered fun and interesting? Do you do the same things here in the US or have your activities changed?
When I have free time, I call my friend to make appointment. We have a same pattern when we hanging out. We usually meet on week 7:00PM, on weekend we meet 1:00PM. There is many interesting place in Seohyun of Bundang. When we arrived, first we go to the café for chatting. After 3or4 hours chatting, we getting hungry and we have for lunch or dinner. When we go to somewhere, Most of place so near by our home, we don't need car. However in the USA if we don't have a car, we are just stuck in our home or use uber or lift. Moreover, in Korea sometimes we drinking whole night at bar. That's because Korea don't need to worry about gun shot at night. It's really safety zone, so we can drink at outsides. But in the USA, we should worry about gun shot even when we just take for a walking around our home. Also, I have never been USA bar. In the USA me and my friends are drinking our home. I like both of country. It is not change that much enjoying my free time.
In contrast, Yebinyoon liked to go out or drank at bars for whole night with her friends, I went out with my family. However, I usually drink at bar with my friend, it is just sometime.
If I have free time in my country, I will go shopping with my friends, eat dinner, play billiards, and watch movie. I enjoy my free time with my friends. I think friends can help me to relax. But in the U.S If I have free time, I will stay home sleep. or watch movie. because in the U.S mall are very far away, I don't have car, so I can't with my friends to go shopping, watch movie, and eat dinner. This is so different.
I spend my free time between my country and The US is different. My country the most of my free time, I usually spend my free time with my friends because when I stay with my friends that make me happy, and also the most people in my country who is single like to spend he/she free time with friends. We often go to country side to play water fall, go to hang out at bar or some friend’s house, or go to play sport, but in the US I don’t have a lot of time to spend with friends, and my friend’s house it far from my house, and they also working on weekend. Both if I don’t go hang out with my friends I like to watch a movie, watch YouTube, or edit a photo in my bedroom because sometimes I very tried, and I need to take a nap in my bedroom, so on this feeling I never go hang out with everyone. These are how I spent my free time in my country and in the US
In China, young people always go to karaoke television. We usually called it KVT. We often drinking and singing in KTV. In the US, I was not saw the KTV opened by American people, and if you want drink alcohol, you must be 21 years old, but in China it is no matter how old you want drink. Internet bar is very popular in China. High school or university student very like go to internet bar with their friends to play computer games together on their free time. In the US, people prefer like sports and outside activities. To be honest, I prefer the US live, more health and energetic.
Korean students also like playing the computer games in the internet bar as Chinese students. We call the places 'PC Room' that may be same with 'Internet Bar'.
In Kuwait I had a lot of free time and I spend my free time by playing soccer with my friends and go watch a movie together with my friends, that's how I have fun and spend my free time in Kuwait, but in the US it is less fun for me because I have less free time and more work to do when I get home in the weekdays, so in my free time at the weekdays I spend it by watching TV-shows and going to the gym to exercise and to be healthy, and in my free time at the weekends I spend it by going to Los Angles with my brother to visit my older brother and have fun there because Los Angles has a lot of activities to entertain yourself with.
I come from Taiwan, I have a lot things to do on free time. Compare to the U.S., Taiwanese are owl. In the U.S., most of people have a wonderful job and big house with their family. In Taiwan, many people have to stay in their office after 7pm even they have nothing to do. Because our culture, no one want to leave before their boss, and also our apartment is very tiny, so we usually eat dinner with friends outside. Therefore, Taiwan has wonderful nightlife, we have the night market, 24hour karaoke, and 24hour grocery stores. In the U.S., most of people are focus on their family. They usually go to the baseball game at night with whole family, and their child love it. Almost all of the American children love sport star and as them as an example. That’s a lot of difference, American are more health in their leisure time, but Taiwanese are more social with our friends and colleague, and the beginning of the day is 8pm in the city. Include eating, shopping, and watching movie, we all do it at the night. That’s the most difference of free time between Taiwan and the U.S.
In Korea, I usually spent my free time with my friends. With them, I used to go to the internet café and play PC games in there. But here, there are no internet café for playing games. There are some internet café in LA, but the place is definitely different from the place in Korea. In the US internet café, people just surf the internet, do their homework, or chat with their friends. Actually, US people who like playing games use the Console player for playing. They just buy the machine and play games in their home. In Korea, people play games using PC and there are so many internet café for playing PC games. This difference makes the game corporation to release game-CDs using different two channels. They make game-CDs using PC track for Korea market, and make CDs using Console track for US market.
Home and my now place are different in the way which I spend my free time. For example when at home I prefer spend my free time with my family. I use to sit with them, spook together, and played. A few times I called my friends and went out, got some cups of tea or coffee then looked for a quiet place. I like to get relaxing and get away from noise. Here in the US, every things totally change. When I have a free time I go to the beach and watch the sunset. In the US I use to be alone, so try spend the free time in public place such as mall or events. Before I like to sit alone and relax but right now I heat do this.
I remember the time I had been in Vietnam that was a fantastic time in my life until now. After working at company, I came back home and prepared for dinner or went out with my friend to relax. However, I cannot have those time in US. I am busier in the US than Vietnam because of the valuable of time. On weekday, there are as busy as in the two countries, but in the week end, it has a little bit different. In Vietnam, I usually slept until noon on Sunday and go out with my friends or my sister to enjoy the week. I liked to go to super market to bought food for the next week or went to movies. Nevertheless, it was not a routine for every weekend. I also came back my parents’ house to visit them and spent a whole weekend together. In addition, if I was bored, I called my friends to went to coffee shop or outside the city to camping or visited friend’s house. In contrast, I moved to the US and I had changed some habits in my free time during weekend. Instead of go out on weekend, I just stay at home to do homework, cooking for meal or house working. Until now, this is my weekend schedule and I believe I will get better in the future. Therefore, I think that the time in Vietnam is more interesting than in the US, but I am not sure about that in the future.
When I have free time in Japan, I often have a lunch and go shopping with my friends or family. For lunch, I usually choose the good restaurant around my place. My place is in a residential area, and there is a lot of good restaurants. There are also some big shopping malls. My friends and me often go shopping and have a tea in the mall. I sometime go out to other cities. My favorite shopping mall and outlet mall are next to my city. It takes about 2 hours to go there from my city, so I can enjoy driving too. In the other hand, In the U.S, when I have free time, I often go to the beaches, especially in summer. I like the beaches in CA. I like to walk around the beaches and see the sunset. My favorite beach is the Laguna Beach. I can see the beautiful view there, and I like the cityscape around the beach. Every time when I go to the Laguna Beach, I go to the gelato shop near the beach. The gelato shop is famous, so always people are in a long line. I love the taste, especially peach and tapioca. These flavor is very delicious. I think I enjoy in the nature more in CA. I also have a dinner with my friends here. I usually go to the Asian restaurants or seafood restaurants. I enjoy various countries food here.
When I acquire free time for myself, I would like to go with my friend. We often go to the new restaurant in my country to discover new tastes. Apart from the flavor of food, We spend a lot of time on eating food. It is also different in some fast food. No matter thing is better than get fun whit your friends. After this, we will go for other activities, like theater, park, bar and so on. I really feel enjoyable when i spend my free time in my country.
When I was in Saudi Arabia, I have different activity to spend my time. I hung out with my friends to café, or we go to popular street on my city. Also, we rent place to meet our family out our houses to change the atmosphere. In addition, in winter, we go to desert to spent some hours or days because it is a good weather. I play some games which are soccer and volley bool. However, in the US, it id different to me. I do not have enough time to do all these activities because my schools. Also, I can go to desert because it is far away. I go to theater, or watch some videos in YouTube. Furthermore, long time I did not play soccer because it is not popular in the US.
